Acne Management

A recent article in the Peer review section of Prime Journa 2019l highlighted key points for acne management. Acne vulgaris is one of the most common concerns of the patient with acne scarring being a further concern. Treatment options vary on the type of scarring and include surgical techniques, chemical peels, injectables and laser resurfacing. Often a combination of therapeutic options are individually tailored for each patient. Treatment options include:

  • Micro needling is considered safe for all skin types as the risk of dyspigmentation is low with minimal downtime. Micro needling can be used independently or used to enhance delivery of topical medications as the tiny perforations to the skin act as a channel to deeper skin levels.

  • Hyaluronic injections can lift the scar tissue and promote the growth of new skin over the area of the scar.

  • PRP (platelet- rich plasma ) uses the patient’s own blood, concentrates the plasma solution and is injected into the scarred skin, releasing growth factors to accelerate tissue regeneration.

  • Fractional laser works by creating a minute injury to the area and the body responds by generating new tissue.

  • Medical grade skin care is formulated to target specific skincare concerns such as acne. Medical grade skincare is supported by clinical evidence. It is often more potent as it contains active ingredients and high quality, meaning you will see results faster.
